<Review by: Sailesh Ghelani>

I didn’t like the first Amazing Spider-Man film in this reboot very much but the sequel impressed the pants off me. Totally entertaining and fun.

Here’s my review of the film:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – Leaps ahead of the first one and an amazing film to boot

SPECIAL FEATURES

The box includes two DVDs. One is the film and Special Features and the second is a Bonus DVD with the featurette Something Sinister This Way Comes.

The Special Features includes trailers for the first Amazing Spider-Man film as well as the remake of Annie.

There are four Deleted/Alternate Scenes with commentary from director Marc Webb. They include Max’s Mother, Peter Visits Harry, Oxford Acceptance and Birth of the Goblin. It is well worthwhile turning ‘On’ the commentary for these scenes as Marc Webb gives you background into them and why they had to be cut or altered.

Then there’s the music video for the film by Alicia Keys: ‘It’s On Again’.

Some previews are included for the films Annie and Appleseed: Alpha (an animated film that looks like a video game).

BONUS DISC

Something Sinister This Way Comes is an interesting short feature having interviews with several crewmembers from the film including Marc Webb, Stan Lee and Avi Arad as well as a Spider-Man ‘historian’.

Extremely fascinating and enlightening for Spider-Man fans and fans of the Marvel universe, this feature tells us about the Sinister Six (Doc Oc, Mysterio, Rhino, Vulture, Electro etc) and the comic books they originated from. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2 we see glimpses of symbols belonging to the six super villains in the Special Projects department at Oscorp. These are hints for what may come in the next instalment as well as a possible Sinister Six movie, which would be like an Avengers or Justice League ‘group’ film.

The DVD has 5.1 audio in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, if you need those.

This is certainly a good buy-and-keep for your DVD collection and I’m glad to have it in mine.
