I may not have thought much of the movie even though it had some memorable moments but the DVD has a very well made Special Feature that is 30 minutes-long and filled with interesting trivia and facts about how the movie was made.

Here’s our review of the film:

American Sniper – Formula war movie with a few gripping moments

SPECIAL FEATURE

1)   One Soldier’s Story: The Journey of American Sniper

American Sniper is a human story about a man who saved many lives and about his family who must also sacrifice for war.

Executive Producer Andrew Lazar and Screenwriter Jason Hall talk about how they met the real Chris Kyle. He was a very quiet man, owing the fact that as a sniper he spent long hours silently in wait. They call him a ‘modern day Achilles’ and talk about finding an actor to play the part. Unfortunately, as the script was finished they learned of Kyle’s murder by a fellow veteran. It then fell upon his widow Taya (played by Sienna Miller in the movie) to fill them in Chris’s life and their story so that director Clint Eastwood and actor Bradley Cooper could do justice to his life and memory.

Bradley Cooper says there’s a glimmer of reality in the film because it is real.

This is an extremely well made Special Feature as it details how the actors and the real life personalities interacted: Sienna Miller met Kyle’s widow Taya for the first time on Skype.

We are also introduced to the urban landscape the filmmakers chose to represent Iraq – Rabbat in Morocco.

Chris Kyle’s actual Marine partner ended up playing himself in the film. And we are shown the training Cooper underwent to look like a real American sniper.

The only thing I wonder is if the feature gets a bit too long but for those who are interested in the movie it will be perfect.
