Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor

Are these celebrities? They look like ordinary (mango) people. A couple of college going teens actually. It’s rather saddening when sometimes mega movie stars like Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra don’t look the part at all. The star vibe, that celebrity aura, the aristocracy is completely absent. Sigh…

Behold a rainbow! Priyanka’s top-to-toe ensemble could easily belong to my 5-year-old niece. All those candyfloss colours are quite overwhelming and perhaps inappropriate on an adult. I’ll admit that as separates, all her garments might work. The pale baby pink pants maybe with a loose, lacy white tunic. The colourful striped tank maybe with denim short shorts (worn on a beach of course) and even the coral jute wedges are nice and summery. But teaming all of them together… girl, what were you thinking? She could well be a mannequin in a candy store. The bright coral nail colour on her tips and toes is certainly making a bad situation worse, but the award for ‘The Worst Item’ definitely goes to that ridiculous turquoise chain with a bird pendant! It’s plastic, far from fantastic and looks downright silly and childish! Her hair and make-up are just about OK. So all in all it’s an overly casual, overly neon and badly accessorised ensemble. A sure ‘missed it’!

Behold a newspaper! Although there’s nothing majorly wrong with Shahid’s ensemble, there is nothing outstanding. It borders on casual chic, but isn’t quite there. The very ‘Zara’ looking tee is quite nice, so are the ankle shoes. I dig the big black and white toy watch, tres cool! I have my doubts though about those black faded cargos. They have been seen strutting down runways this season and they’re fitting him fine as well. But would I recommend them for a public event? Nope. Perhaps to the gym, or just-stepped-out-for-coffee. And dude… there is a limit to how starkly B n W one can go! So Shahid’s look sits on the fence. Neither an ‘It’ nor a ‘missed it’.
